Graphite & Travertine

This kitchen sits open to the living room, so it had to be calm enough to live with and precise enough to look at. We kept the palette to two materials: super-matt graphite fronts with integrated grip profiles instead of handles, and a warm travertine-effect porcelain for the island and splashback.

The island is the centrepiece. Its mitred waterfall edge lands on a recessed plinth lit from beneath, so the whole block appears to float. A pop-up power tower rises from the worktop when needed and disappears when it does not. A black undermount sink and matching tap keep the surface uninterrupted.

Along the back wall, a run of full-height cabinetry hides the washer and dryer behind flush doors, while a glass-fronted display unit with internal lighting gives the room a single, deliberate point of warmth.
